Digital storytelling is an innovative way to use story writing in your classroom. It incorporates writing, reading, representing and viewing using technology to help achieve your curricular outcomes.

"Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Digital stories derive their power by weaving images, music, narrative and voice together, thereby giving deep dimension and vivid color to characters, situations, experiences, and insights. Tell your story now digitally."
- Leslie Rule, Digital Storytelling Association

"Digital storytelling begins with the notion that in the not too distant future, sharing one's story through multiple medium of imagery, text, voice, sound, music, video, and animation will be the principal hobby of the world's people."
- Joe Lambert, Co-founder of the Center for Digital Story Telling

Graphic Novels and Comic Books

product_large_comiclife.pngProgram: Comic Life - on the Horizon School Division computers

Example: Have students re-create a graphic novel version of a Shakespeare play either in whole or specific acts. They can either take their own pictures to include to tell the story or use images from online sources and clip art. They must re-write it in a graphic novel format, and you could have them use Shakespearean language or modern English! It is a fun way to see you students' comprehension of events from their recreation version!
When you are done creating them, have students safe their projects as a PDF file ('print' as a cutePDF writer in printer options), and then you can upload their projects to myebook.com!
