IDEAS

  • Create an editorial cartoon (Comic Life) that expresses your opinion about an issue in the book. Include a short paragraph to explain the issue you chose.

  • Make a cd of songs and/or poems dealing with ONE of the following issues: a) Discrimination / Prejudice; b) Human understanding and compassion; c) Individual conscience. Explain the relevance of each of your selections (at least 4) to the subject in a short paragraph.

  • Create your own website - go paperless! Email assignments, use Google Docs, collaborate, edit and share.

  • Create a diagram or visual organizer (mind-mapping tools or inspiration) that shows the main events in chronological order. Discuss at least 2 major events.

  • Create a "Jeopardy"-style game using the words in your vocabulary list. Remember to categorize your words.

  • Design a new front and back cover (paint.net) for the novel. Include a brief overview of the book and your opinion about its meaning on the back cover.

IDEAS

  • Imagine Huck did indeed go to Injun Territory. Write an untold story with a partner, using Google Docs answering one or more of the following questions: Where does Huck go after Jim is freed? Why does he go there? How does he get there? What happens when Huck gets there? How does this new adventure change or affect Huck? - After writing it, have the students read it out loud to the class.

  • Write a newspaper article using MS Publisher about some of the events in the novel, include advertisements, rewards, promotions, etc.

  • Create a webpage about the Mississippi River showing the route that Huck and Jim took, as well as some history about the Mississippi River

  • Create a music video (film and music) of a song using an allusion from "Huck Finn" to show a common theme - show it to the class!

  • Using Inspiration, create a timeline of the events in the novel. Take it a step further and create an interactive timeline with Prezi and include pictures and video clips to show the events!

  • Using MS Publisher, create a brochure of Mississippi or the itinerary of on of the character's journey

  • Create a collage of pictures from the theme and setting of the book using animoto and put music to it that helps bring the theme together with the images

  • Create a movie promo poster or new book cover using Comic Life
